Red Riding Hood

In the spirit of Halloween, I styled and modeled for a photoshoot in the woods as Red Riding Hood.

I’ve added a dark twist to my story, as you can see in the pictures.

I appeared to be lost and innocent in the beginning but after taking a bite of the apple, I finally embraced my dark side and turned into the wolf.

Who do you want to be this Halloween? Have fun playing dress up!

Validate Magazine Feature: Shades of Summer

It was an incredible experience to model for Validate Magazine’s Shades of Summer Issue. Validate Magazine is an independent magazine based in New York City. I’d like to thank Gregory Hudson of PNB Photography who is the main editor and photographer of the magazine for working with me!

I’m featured in the back cover wearing a very daring bikini made out of grass – talk about being eco-friendly. Well I suppose this gives you a useful idea of what to wear if you are ever stranded on a deserted island?

Validate Magazine features artistic, edgy collaborations with designers and models. It represents the art and culture of  the talented people of New York City in such a dramatic way.

Speaking of designers, I’m wearing one of my very own designs, a headdress made out of faux flowers to match my Panoply floral print dress. I’m so happy to have the  opportunity to express my personal style in this magazine!

Visual Impact: Scene Magazine

It was an honor to be featured in Scene Magazine’s Visual Impact Issue! Scene Magazine is an artsy magazine distributed throughout South East Asia, picking only the best submissions in the region for its publications.

The photo shoot was conceptualized by talented art directors and photographers Ade Lau and Venus Khor, Singaporean photographers based in Australia. It paints a surreal world of reminiscent of Tim Burton’s style. Our stylist Sarah Murray did a great job of picking  quirky outfits with vibrant colors and patterns. It is a little hard to recognize me and my model partner Yquey with the dramatic hair and make up done by our make up artist Carmen Chan but she did an incredible job!

The shoot was set in an unconventional location – a supermarket for foreign construction workers. Using real fish as props was an ingenious idea! I love how pictures imply that I was the dominant one and the man is doing the cooking! The bright contrast of stripes and polka dots with the gothic dark eye makeup made us look like characters from the Beetlejuice movie, another one of Tim Burton’s classics.

Our final shot is with the crowd of Bangladeshi workers in the basketball court, with me and my model partner seated in the middle. It’s one of my favorite shots as it not only looks dynamic, but it also gave the construction workers a chance to shine!

It was one of the most amazing shoots I have ever done and it was a blessing to work with such a talented and professional team!

If you ever plan to dress up as a couple for next Halloween or costume party and hope to make a unique fashion statement, try mixing together bold colors with contrasting patterns and dark makeup. Don’t forget to add a quirky accessory or two!

Alice In Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland was one of my favorite fairy tales from my childhood. It still is a timeless classic for most people and it has also has been an inspiration to artists and designers alike . As the sequel to Tim Burton’s first movie, “Alice Through The Looking Glass,” is currently out, me and my team came up with a whimsical photo shoot inspired by the magical world of Wonderland.

We decided to go with a more modern and punk rock spin off the classic style. I’m wearing a short blue mini dress accented with a black tulle skirt and a pink floral fascinator. My hair was also sprayed with a bright pink hair dye. To pay homage to the White Rabbit and complete the outfit I’m wearing a pocket watch on a pearl necklace.

The Mad Hatter played by model Corey Petett, is wearing a suit with a purple shirt, a modern hat and a mix of quirky accessories pinned onto this jacket. He is an eclectic character after all who loves to pick up interesting things.

A fun fact for this photo shoot was it was shot in an abandoned mansion on top of a steep hill overgrown with vines and covered with moss. It actually used to be inhabited by royalty. We had to hike all the way up to the hill for this shoot! But it was worth it as it added a fairy tale like backdrop for the shoot.

I’d like to credit the amazing photographer Gladys Ng for her artistic direction and wonderful photography work! It was a such a  fun experience to work with a team of determined and gifted people!

Here are some outfits that are inspired by Alice in Wonderland and I must say, they are in a style that’s similar to the movie:
