Stello Official Fashion Show

Stello Official brought us to the far East with their latest collection called Yuki-Onna. The dynamic collection is inspired by Japanese fashion, with metallic samurai-like silhouettes complete with shoulder pads and spiked accessories. Some of the sheer dresses are embellished with oriental floral motifs and patterns.

Flowing pants, kimono-style ensembles, structured bustiers were also part of the collection. The use of cut-outs and high slits added a sensuous element to the outfits. The color palette of black, gold, red and silver made a strong impact with the use of  lustrous leather, silk, lace and metallic fabrics. The men also wore tailored pants with metallic jackets.  The model’s sleek hairstyles were accented with chopsticks that twisted their hair into elegant half up-dos.

A memorable moment was the appearance of a contortionist who walked on the runway with her body bent over backwards at a steep 45 degree angle so her hands touched the floor, something that I thought was humanly impossible.

The collection blends sensuality and femininity with a tough edge. It made a fashion statement that challenged the idea of Asian fashion – it doesn’t have to be conservative, it can be elegant, flowing and provocative at the same time.

Mimi Tran Art Hearts Fashion

Vietnamese fashion designer Mimi Tran showcased her Fall Winter 2016 Optical Illusion collection at Art Hearts Fashion Week. Mimi Tran grew up in Paris and her Vietnamese heritage created a sophisticated influence of both east and west in her designs.

Her collection exuded elegance and Parisian chic while accentuating the female figure. I love her attention to detail as the dresses were exquisitely embellished with lace, sequins, beads and floral appliques to create beautiful patterns which is probably how the collection got its name.

Solid shades of royal blue, gold and the bright oriental floral motifs accentuated the primary color black, which is also the color that the French love to wear. Fine fur stoles and long leather gloves completed the look of  timeless glamour.

For the finale, Miss new York walked out in an understated yet elegant white lace wedding gown.

Floral Fashion with Pantone Colors of 2016

Spring is one of the most beautiful times of the year and a season of new beginnings. Nature awakens from its winter slumber and brings forth beautiful myriads of colors from the greenery and flowers. I would of course seize the opportunity to flaunt my new floral dresses in the spirit of spring. Besides, floral prints and pastels will always be in season.

Speaking of new beginnings, for the first time ever, Pantone has two shades for the color of the year, a tranquil blend of the feminine and masculine, soft warm pink called Rose Quartz and Serenity – a pale, cool shade of baby blue. It challenges traditional perceptions of color association and celebrates gender equality and fluidity.

This has inspired me to wear a delicate pastel pink and blue floral chiffon dress for my shoot. The flowers on the  dress are also embroidered with gold thread which gives it some extra sparkle. The dress is designed by popular New York designer Nicole Miller and I’m also wearing a necklace from  Kendra Scott, another designer from the city. For my makeup I used Urban Decay’s Naked Eyeshadow Palette and Blusher for a petal soft, naturally flushed look.

How would you like to dress up for Spring? If you’re looking for a fresh bouquet of flowers that you want to wear, look no further! I’ve made a list out of spring’s hottest picks for you!

Leanne Marshall Fall 2016

Leanne Marshall, renowned as the Project Runway winner of season 5 presented her Fall 2016 collection  at The Skylight in Clarkson Square during New York Fashion Week.

Her collection was like a breath of fresh air – light, whimsical and ethereal. Every dress moved with such grace and fluidity.  She incorporated her signature wave inspired design into delicate pleats and flounces, adding volume and textures onto her dresses.

Exquisite lace, sleek satin, diaphanous chiffon and wispy organza gave her dresses a delicate and romantic charm.

Earthy tones of grey, brown, gold, black and rich shades of yellow and maroon balanced out the airy designs.

She had a diverse variety of styles in her collection, from the edgier short black and yellow dresses to flowing Grecian gowns and sheer beaded lace dresses.

The finale dresses are absolutely stunning, an elegant black ruffled tulle dress with a contrasting sleek bodice and a heavenly grey gown with dainty flounces that made the model look as if she was wearing a fluffy cloud.

It was a true delight to attend her beautiful fashion show. Her show has even attracted a bevy of celebrities from “Empire” actress Ta’Rhonda Jones, “Teen Wolf” star Arden Cho and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach. What are your favourite looks from the show? Charlotte Ronson MBFW Fashion Show

British designer Charlotte Ronson showed off her fall ready-to-wear collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Lincoln Center. Her fashion forward designs are a favourite among celebrities like Blake Lively, Nicole Richie, Kate Moss and Rihanna. Speaking of celebrities, Paris Hilton was one of her front row attendees for the show and her sister celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson played the music for her show.

Her collection featured a mix of femininity layered with an eclectic edge. Dusky florals are paired with muted colours and floaty chiffon blouses contrasted with streamlined jackets and form fitting skirts. Slouchy knits, coloured tights, culottes and sheath dresses are also included in the collection. My favourite outfits are the green sequinned dress and the dark chiffon floral jumpsuit.
The collection sported a more sophisticated, grown-up vibe which makes it perfect for the office and a night out after for all of us busy women out there!
