Red Riding Hood

In the spirit of Halloween, I styled and modeled for a photoshoot in the woods as Red Riding Hood.

I’ve added a dark twist to my story, as you can see in the pictures.

I appeared to be lost and innocent in the beginning but after taking a bite of the apple, I finally embraced my dark side and turned into the wolf.

Who do you want to be this Halloween? Have fun playing dress up!

Validate Magazine Feature: Shades of Summer

It was an incredible experience to model for Validate Magazine’s Shades of Summer Issue. Validate Magazine is an independent magazine based in New York City. I’d like to thank Gregory Hudson of PNB Photography who is the main editor and photographer of the magazine for working with me!

I’m featured in the back cover wearing a very daring bikini made out of grass – talk about being eco-friendly. Well I suppose this gives you a useful idea of what to wear if you are ever stranded on a deserted island?

Validate Magazine features artistic, edgy collaborations with designers and models. It represents the art and culture of  the talented people of New York City in such a dramatic way.

Speaking of designers, I’m wearing one of my very own designs, a headdress made out of faux flowers to match my Panoply floral print dress. I’m so happy to have the  opportunity to express my personal style in this magazine!

Think Pink for Spring

One of the most welcoming  signs of spring is when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, adding dreamy splashes of pink to the streets and parks. Just like Japan, New York also celebrates the cherry blossoms and arrival of springtime at the Sakura Masturi Festival which starts from April 30th to May 1st.

Pink and white are great colors to wear in spring, as they are such fresh and uplifting colors just like the cherry blossoms themselves. They also complement each other well and they also look good with a wide range of colors such as blue, green, yellow and gray.

Here, I’m wearing a vintage white lace dress with bell sleeves and a shaggy pastel pink fur coat from Urban Outfitters. It’s a simple combination with a contrast of textures. I’ve accessorized my outfit with a tassel necklace from Kendra Scott, a floral clutch from Aldo and booties (although it can’t be seen in the pictures).

What aspects of nature inspire your looks for spring? If you love cherry blossoms as much as I do, take a look at my fashion picks that are inspired by these delicate flowers!

Alice In Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland was one of my favorite fairy tales from my childhood. It still is a timeless classic for most people and it has also has been an inspiration to artists and designers alike . As the sequel to Tim Burton’s first movie, “Alice Through The Looking Glass,” is currently out, me and my team came up with a whimsical photo shoot inspired by the magical world of Wonderland.

We decided to go with a more modern and punk rock spin off the classic style. I’m wearing a short blue mini dress accented with a black tulle skirt and a pink floral fascinator. My hair was also sprayed with a bright pink hair dye. To pay homage to the White Rabbit and complete the outfit I’m wearing a pocket watch on a pearl necklace.

The Mad Hatter played by model Corey Petett, is wearing a suit with a purple shirt, a modern hat and a mix of quirky accessories pinned onto this jacket. He is an eclectic character after all who loves to pick up interesting things.

A fun fact for this photo shoot was it was shot in an abandoned mansion on top of a steep hill overgrown with vines and covered with moss. It actually used to be inhabited by royalty. We had to hike all the way up to the hill for this shoot! But it was worth it as it added a fairy tale like backdrop for the shoot.

I’d like to credit the amazing photographer Gladys Ng for her artistic direction and wonderful photography work! It was a such a  fun experience to work with a team of determined and gifted people!

Here are some outfits that are inspired by Alice in Wonderland and I must say, they are in a style that’s similar to the movie:

Floral Fashion with Pantone Colors of 2016

Spring is one of the most beautiful times of the year and a season of new beginnings. Nature awakens from its winter slumber and brings forth beautiful myriads of colors from the greenery and flowers. I would of course seize the opportunity to flaunt my new floral dresses in the spirit of spring. Besides, floral prints and pastels will always be in season.

Speaking of new beginnings, for the first time ever, Pantone has two shades for the color of the year, a tranquil blend of the feminine and masculine, soft warm pink called Rose Quartz and Serenity – a pale, cool shade of baby blue. It challenges traditional perceptions of color association and celebrates gender equality and fluidity.

This has inspired me to wear a delicate pastel pink and blue floral chiffon dress for my shoot. The flowers on the  dress are also embroidered with gold thread which gives it some extra sparkle. The dress is designed by popular New York designer Nicole Miller and I’m also wearing a necklace from  Kendra Scott, another designer from the city. For my makeup I used Urban Decay’s Naked Eyeshadow Palette and Blusher for a petal soft, naturally flushed look.

How would you like to dress up for Spring? If you’re looking for a fresh bouquet of flowers that you want to wear, look no further! I’ve made a list out of spring’s hottest picks for you!

Radmila Lolly Hope Music Video Shoot

Radmila Lolly is an exceptional opera singer who is my regular client and a great friend of mine. She is a classically trained opera singer  and has been singing since the age of 6.  She has decided to make her approach to her music career more contemporary by infusing her operatic singing style into pop and house music.

These are some of her shots from her music video shoot for her 2nd single “Hope,” a romantic ballad composed by Julian de la Chica. The style of the video is set in the 1940s and exudes Old Hollywood Glamour.

The stylist Laurean Ossorio did an incredible job putting together the outfits! The exquisite, intricately beaded gowns are designed by Dany Tabet and the elegant jewelry from Misahara . Luxurious furs added another air of  opulence from that golden era.

Elegant pinned-up waves, smoky eyes and red lips complemented the vintage fashion direction we were going for.

It was great working with such sweet and talented people. Our art director and videographer Rhonny Tufino did a phenomenal job directing the shoot and editing the video. With Radmila’s powerful voice, the poignant musical score and dramatic visuals, the music video is a rare gem that sets her apart from other artist.

Singer Inas X Album Shoot with Fadil Berisha

Inas X is an incredibly talented, emerging pop and R&B singer that has just been signed under rapper Fetty Wap’s record label, RGF Productions. Her songs are co-produced with music giantTimbaland himself and her first ever single, “Love Is” has already been climbing up the dance charts.

I was fortunate enough to work with her by shooting behind the scenes for her album cover photo shoot alongside one of New York’s top fashion photographers Fadil Berisha.

He was gracious enough to give me some tips on photography and take some shots of the stunning singer. She’s a natural in front of the camera. Apart from her beauty and talent she’s also has a warm, bubbly and caring personality.

So you can imagine, for a young photographer like me to be around such influential and gifted people, it was a wonderful blessing and exhilarating experience!

I hope you like how the pictures from the shoot turned out!

Beauty, Baubles, Bevvies and Boxes Event

I love that the fashion and beauty industry is becoming more earth conscious. The  Beauty, Baubles, Bevvies, and Boxes event was a great showcase of brands that featured products that were Eco-friendly  and  helped give back to the community.

Deepa Gurnani is an artisan jewelry brand that sells handcrafted accessories made in India. The designers behind the brand are husband and wife Deepa and Jay Lakhani. Deepa has beaded couture pieces for Alexander McQueen, Fendi and Emanuel Ungaro  while Jay Lakhani trained under head designers for Tiffany and Bvlgari. It’s no wonder why their jewelry and hair accessories are so exquisite and fashionable.

The pieces that were being displayed at the event were embellished with crystals, beads, feathers and semi precious stones. Some of the headbands, bracelets and necklaces have intricate designs embroidered onto leather pieces with beads. The collection has an earthy, bohemian vibe with an air of luxury. I loved the carnelian necklace and the black feather headband.  Another thing that I admire about Deepa Gurnani is that they are involved with charitable causes and employ the unskilled workforce to teach them skills to support their families.

Hynt Beauty is a organic and cruelty free beauty brand that did makeup touch ups at the event. What makes them different is that their products are not only vegan, they are also made from natural ingredients and botanical extracts. They do not have any nano particles and artificial colorants and preservatives. And of course, they are also Eco-friendly and do not test on animals. The makeup line  looks luxurious and elegant at the same time. I had a mini makeover with the products and I absolutely was impressed with the make up base, powder foundation  and concealer. A little goes a long way and using just a small amount made my imperfections and eye bags disappear, giving it a natural glow.

The drinks were from Invo Coconut Water that uses fresh coconuts from Thailand. The juice is
cold crafted, meaning it is not pasteurised with heat! By doing so, the essential nutrients are retained, making the juice fresher and healthier. Invo also had different flavours with Sencha green tea and Tropical that’s blended with mango and pineapple juices. I’ve tried the coconut water and sure enough it was refreshing and not too sweet, just like sticking a straw and drinking from a freshly cracked coconut! Invo Coconut Water also uses sustainable farming methods.

Boombox Gifts showcased their products and services that makes gifting personal and fun. How it works is that you pick a box from a selection of designs and then Boombox helps you fill it with notes and pictures from your group of friends. It’s perfect for all occasions such birthdays, anniversaries and bridal showers!

As someone who loves the earth and giving back, I loved being introduced to and learning more about these inspirational brands at this event.
I hope you check out some of their products out!
